Jacque Duffy is an artist and writer. Both her art and her writing take many forms. The art ranges from photorealism to complete abstraction through to illustration and graphic art. The writing stretches from poetry, educational children’s books, picture books and short stories. Along with all of her other projects Jacque is currently working on an art exhibition titled ‘Hindsight’, a non-fiction book about Mother Nature’s fury and a crime novel. She would like 60 hours in a day and unlimited funds, this way she is sure she could find the time to do more things. Born in Brisbane, Australia, Jacque has always been creative and entrepreneurial. At 14 years old she left school after being offered a job with a national department store chain as a visual merchandiser. At 15 she designed and made jewellery supplying exclusive fashion stores on Queensland’s Gold and Sunshine Coasts and a chain of up market department stores. With the extra money she earned from her jewellery, during her lunch break from work she put herself through ‘Gowrie’ and ‘June Dally Watkins’ elocution and deportment classes; she also bought a car had it re-upholstered and painted hot pink before she was old enough to drive. Jacque has always made up stories and created colourful pictures for them. In her teenage years she enjoyed writing elaborately decorated letters to pen friends all over the world. Creativity runs in the blood, Jacque’s two boys are both very inventive. Jacque and her husband like nothing better than encouraging them, feeding their creativity. |
