It’s a New Year – woo hoo

Wow how was that for a year… Why do they always seem to end in natural disasters? Cyclones, bushfires, floods, mud slides, you name it. Is it because the weather is more extreme? Here in Australia it is at it’s hottest in most parts of the country and it is also at its wettest. Our wet season has started (although I personally don’t think last years actually ended) and strangely an unusual amount of rain is falling in places that don’t normally get so wet – in fact, a couple of places have received their annual rainfall in just one day, hence the incredible flooding that has covered half of the landmass of Queensland.
In the Northern Hemisphere (we are learning from our televisions and the internet) the poor folks up there are having some of the coldest days on record and getting snowed in all over the place. Airports closed etc… it amuses me how the people effected by these closures and of course media blame these particular closures (due to natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions and snow drifts) on the airport staff…?
The mud slides I mentioned earlier are in America – unlucky buggers. Those houses will just have to be demolished – can you imagine the cleaning…. I hate cleaning; the thought of cleaning up after those mud slides is the stuff of my nightmares.

On a brighter note, we have almost moved into our new house – after 4 years, 9 months and 21 days… not that I have been counting. The kitchen hasn’t been started yet (we are still using the broken one in the remaining part of the old house) but the rest of the house looks fabulous. The bedrooms are done and the bathrooms, so we are sleeping there and just walking across the small paddock to the kitchen and laundry… I should clarify that… I… walk across the paddock to the kitchen and laundry, not the family.

Also some more of my artwork has been selling from the gallery in Cairns, so, all is well with the world from my point of view.

Well friends there is an enormous thunder storm hitting us at the moment so I had better very quickly finish this and unplug everything.

Ciao
