Just to let you know I am still on this Earth. Yes, I am still here. I have been doing so many amazing things lately… entering art competitions, winning art competitions, using prize money to book an excursion to Paris and Barcelona, writing every day for the NaNoWriMo 1667 words a day. Well are you exhausted? I am. My word count has been a little low which I am a bit concerned about but …. I have an excuse… I had this really weird thing happen, the doctor called it a visual migraine, I lost my sight for a short while and had head and eye fuzz for about a week after. So I decided to add a few extra days onto the November 30 deadline for the NaNoWriMo.
I wonder if my problem eventuated from sitting in front of my computed for so many hours?
Anyway, back to the art side of my existance I attended an artist book workshop last weekend with Adele Outteridge a Brisbane artist. I really enjoyed it and found it was a great follow on from the workshop with Rebecca Berrett, this time there was no measuring involved – go figure.
I don’t have any pictures of the books I made so next blog I think.
Well I must go and get to my word count
see ya
Filed under Uncategorized | Comments (3)Wow… I can’t believe how busy my life gets or how I always manage to be at the right place at the right time.
What do they call that? Not blessed because sometimes the right place is the wrong place and not particularly pleasant and it takes a while to realise you are where you are for a good reason and something positive will come out of it.
This month has been amazingly busy, eventful, frustrating, nausiating, joyful and wonderous… how? You may ask me this and I will tell you it has been all of these things because soooo much has been crammed into it. The Innisfail Biennial Art Exhibition was fabulous, it not only looked great due to the Shire Hall refurbishment and the new stands we had made thanks to a grant but the standard of artwork was very high.
I couldn’t have been happier with the Official Opening evening, we self catered for approx 100 people, thinking that because so many other events were on that evening we would be lucky to see maybe 80… over 190 people came to the opening… send out for more drinks. The only mistake made was when the results were read out we didn’t have the item number to read out too just the winning artists name in each section.
I won the artist book section… woo hooo. I also won the portraiture section….. woweee.
Drum roll people….
I also won the major award, the big one….. holy cow batman!
I had ever only won one other art award so this was truely the trifecta…
To top it all off I sold one of my more expensive artpieces too (Not the one pictured, that was the winning piece)
I have also been asked to write a short blurb for a Queensland Writers Magazine.. wow. and last week I was at a book and writers festival on a discussion panel – my job was to discuss illustrations in writing.
All of these fantastic things happening to me, mind you I also managed to get a piece of metal through one of my tyres and was stuck on the side of the road for a while – the good side to that was I got some quiet time to sit and read while I waited for help to arrive.
This month I have (starting last night on the 1st November) joined the NaNoWriMo write a novel in a month challenge. Not that I am not busy enough but I must be one of these people who can’t sit still (actually my body can sit still but my head can’t). The target word count is 1667 a day and yesterday I managed 1678 words – just… so today I will continue on with the story, I have no idea where it is taking me I started the whole thing off with a two minute writing challenge with having to use three words… so my story is so far strange and who knows what will happen to my charactors I meet along the way.
